Pa sgetti & Meatballs

For the kids “Night Before Back to School” spaghetti dinner I made Ina’s spicy turkey meatballs. My mom initially made them for our Christmas Eve Dinner Buffet and I remember they really stood out even amongst so much other food! I’ve been craving them ever since and they did not disappoint. I think I may have found my new favorite meatball. I copied her recipe to a t minus the parsley. Perhaps my oven is a little hot but next time I will be cooking them for 5 minutes less. The kids call it pa sgetti, so that’s what I layed the meatballs down on.

I highly recommend this recipe.

All about our families newest tradition:

On Instagram I saw Grace Hamlin talking about her tradition of “Night Before Back to School” spaghetti dinner that she does for her kids. It’s such a great idea, easy to implement and pull off year after year and I would have never thought of it. It’s a great way to signify the ending of summer and the twins got a big kick out of it. I love a tablescape and this one was playful and easy to do.

I set the table with these steps:

  • All White linen base (napkins included)

  • White plates and clear cups

  • Fun yellow flowers, stacked on composition notebooks.

  • Fill the flowers with rulers, pencils and apples (stick apples on the end of kabob sticks to place)

  • Jumbo crayons running down the center of the table and random school supplies scattered

  • Scotch Tape as napkin rings

I’m not even going to lie: when I thought of the scotch tape napkin rings I could not have been prouder ! Inspiration strikes sometimes! I was impressed with my genius until someone pointed out to me that they saw it on another account earlier and meant to send it to me! Womp, womp! Ha- of course! While I’m still pretty proud it came to me organically, I’m a little disappointed I wont be trademarking anything any time soon *wink
