The Midnight Library

Book: The Midnight Library

Premise: Nora wakes up from a suicide attempt in a library at midnight, the heaviest book in the library is the book of regrets (all her life’s major regrets, ie leaving the band, quitting competitive swimming, breaking up with Dan). All the books in the library are her alternative lives had she made different decisions at every step along the way. We follow Nora as she explores those alternative lives, in pursuit of happiness/the want to live.

Would I Recommend: Yes

Rating: 4/5

Additional Thoughts: Exploring Nora’s alternative lives was akin to Walter Mitty’s daydreaming adventures wrapped in the lessons of the Alchemist (if you’re a fan of either of those, you will enjoy this). We all have a list of regrets in our head and it is only human to wonder where I lives would have taken us had different decisions been made.
