Premise: Joy & Stan are retirees with 4 adult children. The couple had a successful business for decades and their community all views them as a perfect couple. One night a stranger knocks on their door seeking refuge from her abusive boyfriend. She ends up staying with Stan and Joy and all of their children find it to be a very strange arrangement. A year later the stranger is gone and so is Joy. Stan is acting strange and soon the eyes of the nation are upon the missing persons case. With a media storm brewing two children think their dad is responsible and two think he is innocent.

Would I Recommend: Yes

Additional Thoughts: I was drawn to this book as the author’s other works include Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. It was fun to switch things up and read a mystery and I am happy to say that I could not put it down. Was I thrilled with the ending? Not particularly, but it also wasn’t the worst.
